KABUL (PAN): Ahead of seeking trust vote, five of the 23 ministers in the new cabinet will appear before the Wolesi Jirga tomorrow to present their work plans.

KABUL (PAN): Given below are brief biographies of the 23 ministers introduced to the Wolesi Jirga for approval on Saturday, almost a month after President Hamid Karzai was sworn in for a second term:

KABUL (PAN): Residents of this central capital city have expressed their dissatisfaction over the introduction of new cabinet members, doubting their abilities of bringing healthy changes into the lives of commoners.

 

KABUL (PAN): Some political experts believe the new cabinet is lacking the potential to bring about positive changes which could help shape the destiny of Afghans, but others think the situation could improve if honesty is valued.

 

KABUL (PAN): Several members of the Wolesi Jirga have denounced the new cabinet as based on compromise, saying most members of the previous team have failed to do their jobs well.

KABUL (PAN): After a long wait, the Wolesi Jirga, lower house parliament, Saturday received a list of 23 new cabinet picks for a vote of confidence. The new cabinet members include 12 sitting ministers and 11 new faces, some of them technocrats.

KABUL (PAN): Canada has affirmed its desire to work together with the new Afghan government to improve the security situation and delivery of basic services and bolster efforts at combating the scourge of corruption.

KABUL (PAN): Several members of the Wolesi Jirga have denounced the new cabinet as based on compromise, saying most members of the previous team have failed to do their jobs well.

KABUL (PAN): The newly-appointed presidential spokesman, Waheed Omar, has said new cabinet ministers were introduced to parliament after a flurry of consultations with the various state institutions.
