KABUL (Pajhwok): National Security Advisor Hamdullah Mohib and UNAMA head Tadamichi Yamamoto discussed the peace process, the upcoming Geneva conference and the recently held parliamentary elections in Afghanistan, a statement said Thursday.
Mohib and Yamamoto met on Wednesday evening, the statement from the National Security Council said.
The UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistan briefed the Afghan NSA over the November 28 ministerial meeting on Afghanistan in Geneva.
He said goal of the Geneva conference was to show solidarity of the international community with the Afghan people and the government in their efforts for peace and prosperity.
For his part, Mohib thanked the United Nations for its continued assistance with Afghanistan in diverse fields and insisted on an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led reconciliation process.
The two sides discussed the successful conduct of the Wolesi Jirga elections, the Afghan-led peace process and preparations for the Geneva conference.
Yamamoto said the UN was committed to supporting the Afghan government in advancing the peace process and other areas.

Meanwhile, NSA Mohib met with Saudi Arabia ambassador in Afghanistan Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Khalidi and both discussed the Afghanistan peace process, security and bilateral cooperation.
The Saudi envoy assured the kingdom’s continued cooperation with the Afghan government in various fields.
On this occasion, Mohib proposed a joint technical committee for preparing the Kabul-Riyadh cooperation plan to pave the ground for increased bilateral cooperation.
