KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The death toll in Saturday’s bomb attack on an election rally has climbed to at least 22 people in northeastern Takhar province, an official said on Sunday.
Another 36 people were injured when the motorcycle bomb went off near the campaign gathering of a female Wolesi Jirga candidate Nazifa Bek in Rustaq district on Saturday afternoon.

TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Residents of northeastern Takhar province on Wednesday said illegal gunmen were increasingly spotted travelling in vehicles laced with tinted glasses since the beginning of the electioneering.
The 20-day election campaign was launched around a week back. More than 60 men and 12 women are contesting the Oct 20 Wolesi Jirga polls on nine seats allocated to Takhar province.

TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Lack of coordination among local departments has led to spiraling insecurity in northern Takhar province, head of the Provincial Council (PC) says on Thursday.
Takhar was one of the secure provinces but anti-state rebels have recently stepped up their activities in the province.

TALOQAN (Pajhwok): The northwestern Takhar province has an estimated 46 different mines containing natural reserves and resources which will considerably bolster national economy if they are extracted in a professional and legal ways.
As many as 1, 500 employees are working on different mines elsewhere in the province.
Geological surveys and researches have taken place many times in the province but practical work on exploiting the resources would yet take place.

TALOQAN (Pajhwok) An electoral watchdog member in northern Takhar province on Friday announced his resignation, accusing the panel of supporting a particular candidate in last week’s runoff vote.
Barna Salehi linked his decision to the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IEC) failure to maintain neutrality and the affiliation of all observers with one specific group.
