TALUQAN (PAN): Violence against women has increased in northern Takhar province, where 180 cases were registered over the past four months, compared to 100 incidents during the same period last year, an official says.
Takhar Women’s Affairs director Razm Ara Hawash told Pajhwok Afghan News during an interview that her department was deeply concerned about the increasing incidents of violence against the gender.

TALOQAN (PAN): The new governor of northern Takhar province on Monday vowed to fight corruption and make efforts at strengthening unity among tribes.
Abdul Latif Ibrahimi, who was introduced as the new governor at a ceremony in Taloqan, the provincial capital, promised to bring into use all resources in the fight against corruption, urging citizens to help him materialise his pledges.

KABUL (PAN): Abdul Latif Ibrahimi, a brother of Wolesi Jirga Speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, has been appointed as new governor of norther Takhar province, the Council of Ministers said on Monday.
Ibrahimi was recommended for the position by the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) and approved by President Hamid Karzai, the Office of Administrative Affairs said in a statement.
