Takhar insecurity linked to lack of coordination: PC

TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Lack of coordination among local departments has led to spiraling insecurity in northern Takhar province, head of the Provincial Council (PC) says on Thursday.
Takhar was one of the secure provinces but anti-state rebels have recently stepped up their activities in the province.
PC head Esmatullah Qurbani told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Lack of coordination among local official is one of the main reasons for deteriorated law and order.” The officials concerned had no commitment for sustainability and peace, he said, accusing the officials for not having clear policy to combat terrorism.
“The spread of insecurity toward northern areas is a huge project supported by great powers. The government even does not have a vivid policy to combat and bar anti-state actors,” he noted.
Qurbani pointed out that a number of youth had been jobless since long which benefited militants who recruited them. Provincial council members should find ways to create jobs, he said, adding that “nobody can question local officials. PC members emphasized on quality, transparency and right implementation of projects.”
Qurbani confirmed widespread administrative corruption in the province and underlined the need to control corruption. “I receive 50 to 100 complains daily from local people about different departments. The officials do not perform their duties efficiently since they want to make reasons for corruption. In these state of affairs, the provincial council members should resolve pressing problems of locals,” he remarked.
