TALUQAN (PAN): Residents of Takhar province expressed commitment to take active part in the upcoming presidential and provincial council elections.
However, most of the residents want free, fair and independent elections.
Sharing border with Tajikistan, Takhar has a total 17 administrative units; however, constituencies for provincial council elections would yet to be drawn.
It may be recalled widespread ragging was reported during the previous elections in Yangi Qala, Khawaja Bahauddin, Khwaja Ghar and Ashkamash districts.

TALUQAN (PAN): Residents of Takhar said the province facing host of problems including deforestation, presence of armed groups, administrative corruption, drugs trafficking and land grabbing.
Earlier, the government once initiated action to address problems of serious nature being confronted by the people but uprooting the challenges needed stringent measures, locals said.
Alhaj Mohammad Akbar, an elder of Durqad district told Pajhwok Afghan News people of area were suffering including deforestation and illegal hunting of animals.

TALUQAN (PAN): Bolstered security and creation of job opportunities for youth of Takhar province are among the major demands of the residents.
Abdul Qahar Hakimi, head of provincial council said security was the main demand of the people, saying presence of Taliban remnants and other armed groups created chaos among the residents of the province.
He underlined the relevant officials should establish greater coordination among themselves in an attempt to counter any illegal group or armed individual and their nefarious designs.
