KABUL (PAN): Ahead of seeking trust vote, five of the 23 ministers in the new cabinet will appear before the Wolesi Jirga tomorrow to present their work plans. In its session on Sunday, the Wolesi Jirga decided to start the process tomorrow. Those who will appear before parliament included the Defence Minister General Abdul Rahim Wardak, Minister of Interior Muhammad Hanif Atmar, Finance Minister Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal, Education Minister Ghulam Farooq Wardak and Justice Minister Sarwar Danish. The names of the cabinet members were presented to the Wolesi Jirga by President Hamid Karzai on Saturday. Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga Younus Qanuni told the Jirga that they will give vote of confidence to five ministers daily. Three ministers would be introduced in the morning session while two would appear in the afternoon, he added. The Wolesi Jirga also discussed the matter relating to dual nationality of some ministers. Last week, the Jirga decided that trust vote would not be given to ministers having dual nationality. Member of the Wolesi Jirga from Faryab Sardar Rahman Oghli said that the ministers should mention on oath regarding their dual nationality. He said any one having dual nationality was not suitable person for the country. Another member of the Wolesi Jirga Dr. Zaheer also supported Oghli and said all this should be ensured before giving them trust vote. However, member of the jirga from Nangarhar Babrak Shinwari said this matter should not be given that much importance. He said any one who can relinquish his dual nationality and have expertise in his work, must be given trust vote. His argument was supported by speaker of the assembly Younus Qanuni. dk/mud
