KABUL (PAN): Residents of this central capital city have expressed their dissatisfaction over the introduction of new cabinet members, doubting their abilities to bring healthy changes into the lives of commoners.

A teacher, Abdul Qaddir, 56, said: "I don't believe that the new cabinet ministers have the ability to bring about considerable changes, which can help the poor find jobs."

Another resident Fahima said all those who had campaigned for President Hamid Karzai in the presidential elections were offered the ministerial slots irrespective of their capability or being suitable.

Another resident, Syed Shuaib, said most of the ministers were old faces who had occupied the posts since last eight years.

"Anyway, we urge them to honestly serve the nation," he added.

After a long wait, the Wolesi Jirga, lower house of the parliament, Saturday received a list of 23 new cabinet picks for a vote of confidence. The new cabinet members include 12 sitting ministers and 11 new faces, some of them technocrats.
