KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Mohammad Jawaz Khan kept secret the demise of his ailing daughter to let villagers stream to polling centres.
A day before the election, Khan, a resident of Warjali area of Thanai district of Khost, had attended a gathering of villagers to discuss the election. The gathering was called by influential tribal elder Abdul Ghaffar.
After consultations, the participants decided they would actively participate in the June 14 runoff election.

Khost elders lash out at Abdullah’s remarks

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Hundreds of people, including tribal elders, lawmakers and political activists, on Monday held a protest meeting in Khost City against Dr. Abdullah Abdullah’s remarks about the voter turnout in provinces.
About 2000 people, including religious scholars and civil society activists, attended the protest gathering. The speakers condemned Abdullah’s remarks that the ballots cast in some provinces exceeded the number of registered voters there.

KHOST (Pajhwok): Youth on Saturday thronged many polling centres, dancing to drumbeats in southeastern Khost province, where all polling sites open.

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): On Election Day, five children were killed and 17 others, including women, wounded when insurgents fired a barrage of rockets into the Alisher district of southeastern Khost province, locals said.
Haji Turab Khan, a local elder, told Pajhwok Afghan News two rockets landed inside a home in the Babrak Tani area on the outskirts of the district. Several people were killed and wounded in the first attack.

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Tribal elders from eleven districts of Loya Paktia --- a region comprising Paktia, Khost and Paktika provinces in the country’s southeast --- on Tuesday asked the Taliban not to disrupt the electoral process.
About 400 tribal elders and youth representatives from five districts of Paktika, three of Khost and as many towns of Paktia held a gathering in Khost City, the capital of Khost province.

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Promising elaborate security measures on the election day, the governor on Sunday assured government officials would maintain their neutrality during the democratic exercise throughout southeastern Khost province.
