KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): The provincial council of southeastern Khost province on Saturday announced it would be electing the administration board tomorrow.

The Independent Election Commission (IEC) has warned provincial councils of Paktia, Khost and some other provinces to elect their administration boards before December 22.

In its warning letter to these councils, the IEC has said it would intervene if the PCs failed to elect the boards before the deadline.

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Provincial council members of southeastern Khost province have accused some Wolesi Jirga members of interfering in their affairs, a reason they cite for their inability to elect the council chief and administrative board.

A member of the new council, Abdul Wali Wahidzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News that lower house members from Khost and other provinces were directly interfering in the council’s affairs.

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Some members of the provincial council in southeastern Khost province on Sunday alleged they had been offered bribes to vote for a specific senatorial candidate.

Over the issue who should represent them in the upper house of parliament, the council has been divided into two groups --- each consisting of nine and six members, a source said on condition of anonymity.

The six-member group has repeatedly asked members of the larger group to vote for a senatorial candidate of their choice in return for $150000, claimed the source.

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Newly sworn-in provincial council members in southeastern Khost province on Monday accused the provincial Independent Election Commission (IEC) of deliberately not conducting the ballot to choose their administrative board’s members.

Speaking at a press conference here, they said people who had voted them were in trouble because they could resolve their problems until they elected their head, secretary and deputy head.

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Students and youth from the Gurbaz district of southeastern Khost province on Wednesday urged the government to intensify efforts for peace in the country.

They issued the call during a gathering at the Sheikh Amir High School in anthems and scripts. Besides students, government officials, tribal elders, civil society activists and elders from Waziristan refugee families attended the gathering.
