KABUL (Pajhwok): An election observer on Sunday said he was severely beaten after being abducted by some gunmen in southeastern Khost province.
The victim, Ali Gul, alias Lemar Niazi, told a press conference in Khost City that he was abducted a day earlier from the city to a nearby Panzai village, where he was subjected to violence and deprived of belongings.
The former journalist had performed his duty as an observer during the April elections in the Bak district.

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): The governor’s house said on Monday its investigation into an attack on a vote-counting centre in southeastern Khost province was ongoing and that the centre’s security chief and regional administrator had been arrested.

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Defence Minister Gen. Bismillah Khan Mohammadi reiterated on Sunday security forces had adopted all possible measures to conduct elections in a peaceful environment.
He expressed the view at a high-level meeting attended by Khost Governor Abdul Jabbar Naeemi, senior security officials, lawmakers and Independent Elections Commission (IEC) representatives.
