Ramp up cooperation with security forces, Khostis urged

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Khost Provincial Council (PC) members on Wednesday asked resident to fully cooperate with the security forces in maintaining the law and order situation.
Speaking to Pajhwok Afghan News, PC member Janmir Zazai said Khost was one of peaceful provinces of the country due to the preparedness of security forces and all-out cooperation from residents.
“The current security environment is extremely good, as people have been cooperating with the government. We want this positive trend to continue to improve security further,” he remarked.
His colleague Mujibur-Rahman Salimzoy stressed sustained security for the province’s development. Inhabitants of insecure localities were worst-hit as poor security deprived them of uplift projects, he argued.
Over the past 13 years, he explained Alisher, Bak, Sabri and Yaqubi districtshad been volatile due to the presence of rebels. But after an improvement in the situationin recent months, some uplift project have been executed there under the National Solidarity Programme (NSP).
Kafil Rehan, another member of the council, asked security officials to behave decently with the common people. The public representative demanded deployment of more police in the province.
Resident Zabit Khan Mangalexpressed satisfaction with relations between the government and the people. But he called for greater government attention to Khost’s development.
Police chief Brig. Gen. Faizullah Ghairat assured the people of Khost of complete security, saying steps had been taken to further improve the situation with public cooperation.
