JALALABAD (Pajhwok):  One person was killed and six others, including provincial council (PC) female member Angeza Shinwari, wounded in a bomb blast in eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday, the civil hospital director said.
Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the target of the attack was Shinwari.
Mohammad Ismail, an eyewitness, said the incident took place at around 1: 30 pm on the outskirts of 2nd police district of provincial capital, Jalalabad.

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least seven provincial councils (PCs) on Thursday announced closing their offices for seven days as a toke of protest over the Wolesi Jirga decision barring them from overseeing local departments.
In reaction to Wednesday’s parliamentary move, members of the councils in Badakhshan, Ghor, Balkh, Nangarhar, Kunar, Nuristan, Laghman Bamyan and Faryab provinces shut down their offices.
Sticking to its stance, the lower house of parliament decided provincial councils did not reserve the right to supervise or evaluate the performance of local departments.

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday gunned down two brothers in the Kot district of eastern Nangarhar province, the governor’s spokesman said.
Ahmad Zia Abdulzai told Pajhwok Afghan News gunmen sprayed the pair with bullets in Jatu Kala locality of the district in front of their home.
The slain brothers, Muhammad Zamin and Malik Muhammad Amin---a leading tribal elder--- had no personal enmity in the area and both had good reputation among people.
Police, he said had started investigation to nab the killers.
