JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The provincial council on Monday asked the government to arrest and prosecute graft-tainted scale officials and Public Works Ministry observers in eastern Nangarhar province.
Haji Ahmad Ali, the council chief, told a press conference in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, their investigation showed hundreds of thousands of afghanis were being pocketed on a daily basis at the Torkham weighbridge on the border with Pakistan.

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Provincial council (PC) members and tribal elders, paying tribute to former Nangarhar governor Mualvi Attaullah Ludin, on Sunday urged the central government to appoint an honest and clean person as his successor.
At a gathering in Jalalabad, the elders and public representatives honoured Ludin, who resigned on March 21, citing challenges in dealing with corruption, weaknesses in administrative affairs and his status as acting governor. 

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The acting governor of eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday said had tendered resignation from his office due to certain hurdles.
Maulvi Attaullah Ludin, who had been appointed by former president Hamid Karzai in November 2013, announced his resignation during a meeting at his office.
Government officials, religious scholars and tribal elders attended the meeting in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.

JALALABAD (PAN): The eastern Nangarhar province has abundant mines of marbles and luminous stones, which need to be extracted in a professional and legal way. 
 
According to the survey conducted back in 1956, large scale mines of marble and luminous stones in Nangarhar could be found from Hisarak to Dor Baba district along the hills of Spin Ghar (White Mountains).
 
Eng. Shakrullah Tolo, provincial head of mines, told Pajhwok Afghan News a five years long survey was underway in the province in order to properly identify the existence of natural resources.
