Tallying of votes begins in Chaparhar

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Counting of votes began five hours ahead of the official closing time in the Chaparhar district of eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday, an official said.

An Independent Election Commission (IEC) observer in Chaparhar told Pajhwok Afghan News powerful individuals had stuffed some ballot boxes in favour of their presidential candidate last night.
The remaining ballot boxes were filled by voters until afternoon and thus counting of votes began, he said, but wished anonymity.
But Khwaja Aminullah Fazli, IEC head in Nangarhar, said they were unaware of the incident, which would be investigated.
