JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A militant commander allegedly involved in the assassination of former governor for central Logar province has been detained during a special operation by security forces in eastern Laghman province, an official said Thursday.
Arsala Jamal, the former governor, was assassinated when a bomb hidden in a microphone exploded as he spoke at a mosque in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, on October 17, 2013.

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Senate Chairman Fazl Hadi Muslimyar on Wednesday asked the government to investigate the bomb attack on Angiza Shinwari and arrest the perpetrators.
Shinwari was seriously injured in a bomb blast in Jalalabad, the provincial capital about more than a week ago and was shifted to a Kabul hospital for treatment, but died of her wounds after a surgery.
Her driver, the son of her sister, was instantly killed in the blast that injured four high school students.

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Angiza Shinwari, the provincial council member for eastern Nangarhar province, who was seriously wounded in an explosion, succumbed to her injuries in a hospital in Kabul, an official said Monday.
Her driver was killed while Shinwari and five high schoolchildren were wounded in a bomb blast in Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province, last Wednesday. Police had said the bomb was detonated when Shinwari was passing through the city centre.

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Saturday held a video conference with governors of four eastern provinces and talked with them in details on issues concerning security, good governance and development.
Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the spokesman for the Nangarhar governor, told Pajhwok Afghan News that governors, police chiefs, and army officers from Nangarhar, Laghman, Nuristan and Kunar took part in the conference held in Shahi Palace.
The officials presented their reports and grievances on several issues to the president.
