JALALABAD (PAN): A power extension project, costing $1.5 million, which would benefit 5,000 residents, was launched on Tuesday in the Sorkhrod district of eastern Nangarhar province. The problem of pylon installation works from the Naghlu dam in Ozbin area was resolved by Kabul governor, Nangarhar Governor Gul Agha Sherzai, said at the project launching ceremony. Sorkhrod district residents had cooperated in the installation of electric pylons, sub-stations and wire extension, so power equipments costing $300,000 (15.4 million afs) would also be purchased for the district by the Sherzai Foundation, he added. Electricity would be transmitted to Ghochako, Zeran, Dosaraka, Danduna, Perseb and Syedan Foladi villages in the district, said Water and Energy department director Eng. Mohib-ur-Rahman Momand.
