43- Mr. Haji Lutfullah Baba:

The Nangarhar province has 22 districts (Administrative Units) and its capital Nangarhar city comprised five municipality districts.
Jalalabad City:  in accordance with historical records, Jalalabad city has previously named as Jalal Kot, was constructed based on the order of Jalalu Din Mohammad Akbar, Mughuli King of Northern India in 990 lunar year. This city was destroyed as a result of heavy floods in 1880, but was reconstructed later as a part of the Master Plan of the New city. Jalalabad has five municipality districts.

JALALABAD (PAN): Governor Gul Agha Sherzai could be referred to the Attorney-General Office (AGO) for failing to prevent the construction of border gates by Pakistani forces in the Goshta district of eastern Nangarhar province, a legislator hinted on Monday.
While accusing the provincial administration of negligence, residents of the district say the Pakistani military have erected security gates in Goshta. The border spat has sparked protests in Afghanistan and further deteriorated the already strained relations between the neighbours.

JALALABAD (PAN): Protesting residents of eastern Nangarhar province on Wednesday warned of boycotting next year's presidential and provincial elections if action was not taken against Governor Gul Agha Sherzai.
"All residents of Nangarhar will boycott the elections and stop supporting the central government," said Pir Bakhash Gardiwal, a Wolesi Jirga member, who participated in the demonstration that entered a fifth day today.

JALALABAD (PAN): A key member of the Afghan Millat Party and the Minister of Commerce and Industries, Dr. Anwarul Haq Ahadi, on Saturday said some political parties have launched efforts at creating a pre-election national consensus to ensure a peaceful transfer of power.
"Some groups in Kabul are working and talking about national consensus before next presidential elections to keep the country from plunging into a new political chaos," Ahadi told Pajhwok Afghan News during an interview.

What country has the most expensive election campaigns in the world? At a first glance the answer may be obvious; in the recent US elections over 2 billion dollars were spent, and combined with the other elections held at that time, the total spending is estimated to over 6 billion.

JALALABAD: Dwellers of the earthquake-hit Sherzad district of the eastern Nangarhar province said they were participating in the upcoming presidential polls despite the fact that pledges made with them were not fulfilled by the government.
They believe that in using their right to vote, they would be able to elect a president who could pay attention to bringing a positive change in their lives.

Although people in different districts of Nangarhar have their own demands from the future president, a few common problems emerge. Those included eradication of unemployment, security and end to administrative corruption.
The province, with 22 districts and a major border with Pakistan, has 19 members in the provincial council and 13 representatives in the Wolesi Jirga or Lower House of Parliament. The report below is based on comments of 10 people from five districts and the provincial capital of Jalalabad about their demands from the new president for Afghanistan.
