JALALABAD (PAN): Afghan forces pulled down a controversial border gate following a seven-hour clash with Pakistani troops in the eastern province of Nangarhar, an official said on Thursday.
The overnight skirmish was touched off by a Pakistani attack on an Afghan border post, prompting a strong response from the national forces, a security official told Pajhwok Afghan News.

JALALABAD (PAN): Thousands of people rallied in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, against Pakistan on Thursday, supporting Afghan security forces.
Afghan forces pulled down a border gate following a seven-hour clash with Pakistani troops in the Goshta district the province. One Afghan border policeman -- Qasim Mujahid -- was martyred in the high-stakes clash.

JALALABAD (PAN): Several women’s welfare NGOs are operating in eastern Nangarhar province without coordination with the Women’s Affairs Department, an official said on Monday.
A number of NGOs were getting funds from donors, but did not inform the department regarding their activities, Women’s Affair Director Anisa Imrani Pajhwok Afghan News in an exclusive interview.

JALALABAD (PAN): Halted development activities, rampant land-grab and endemic administrative corruption have made the life of the people miserable in eastern Nangarhar province, the Senate chairman said on Monday.
Fazal Hadi Muslimyar, who arrived in Jalalabad on Monday, told Pajhwok Afghan News no development project could be executed in the province over the last two years, blaming the messy situation on both provincial officials and lawmakers representing Nangarhar in Parliament.
