JALALABAD (PAN): The Hesarak district chief in eastern Nangarhar province on Wednesday said he had been removed from his position after sharing the town’s security problems with the media.
Abdul Khaliq Maroof, the district’s administrative head, told Pajhwok Afghan News on Friday the town had been under siege from insurgents and had been out of government’s control for seven months.

 
JALALABAD (PAN): A female schoolteacher on Tuesday accused a member of the Nangarhar provincial council and her husband of threatening her with death.
Najiba, a teacher at the Experimental School in Jalalabad, told Pajhwok Afghan News that public representative Amin and her spouse had been warning her.

JALALABAD (PAN): Two people were killed and three others wounded during a bomb explosion in eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday, police said.
Attached to a bicycle, the explosive device went off at about 9am near the Behsud bridge, north of Jalalabad, said Nangarhar's deputy police chief, Col. Masoom Khan Hashimi.

 
JALALABAD (PAN): Truck drivers in eastern Nangarhar province have accused border police, scale officials and public works ministry representatives at the Torkham scale of demanding bribes from them under the pretext of overloading.
They claim shipping goods in line with permissible weight set by the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) under the Weight in Motion System (WIM), but the ministry officials demand bribes from them for alleged overloading.

 
JALALABAD (PAN): A Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan (FEFA) representative in eastern Nangarhar province on Wednesday accused the Independent Election Commission (IEC) of non-cooperation.
The IEC provincial office did not provide the election watchdog accurate information, he alleged, saying most of their requests were answered after inordinate delays.
