KABUL (PAN): Minister-Designate of Foreign Affairs Dr. Zalmay Rasul Saturday won a vote of confidence from the Wolesi Jirga, or the Lower House of Parliament. Of the 224 members attending today's session, 132 endorsed Rasul for the key slot cabinet while 82 voted against him. Nine votes were declared invalid.

KABUL (PAN): President Hamid Karzai, miffed at the rejection of most of his second cabinet slate, has said the Wolesi Jirga's decision is consistent with Afghanistan's Constitution.

KABUL (PAN): Minister-Designate of Foreign Affairs Dr. Zalmay Rasul and six other cabinet nominees won a vote of confidence from the Wolesi Jirga, or the Lower House of Parliament, on Saturday.

KABUL (PAN): Analysts said on Saturday the Wolesi Jirga's rejection of 10 cabinet members nominated by President Hamid Karzai was a huge challenge for his administration.

KABUL (PAN): Given below is the biography of Minister-designate of Commerce and Industry Muhammad Zubair Waheed, who was chosen for the slot following Muhammad Hadi Hakimi's refusal to join the cabinet:

KABUL (PAN): A former Afghan president illegally ordered the sale of a state-run Ariana Airline aircraft, bought for 30 million US dollars from Russia in 1980, to Iran's Caspian Company at a throwaway price of $450,000.
