Kabul, the government said every one must respect the national sovereignty of Afghanistan.

KABUL (PAN) Reiterating their support to Afghan people and government, the United Nations Security Council members called for addressing the challenges facing the war-ravaged country.

KABUL (PAN): Hamid Karzai will take oath for the second term of five years as president of

Afghanistan on November 19, official told Pajhwok Afghan News on Saturday.

KABUL (PAN): Several members of the Wolesi Jirga or lower house of parliament announced their support for President Hamid Karzai for his second term of five years in office.

KABUL (PAN): President Hamid Karzai has sought financial and technical support from the United States for holding the country's parliamentary polls expected to take place in September this year.

KABUL (PAN): While some lawmakers favour the Independent Election Commission's decision of postponing the parliamentary polls, others are averse to the IEC move.

KABUL (PAN): The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) Monday made it clear the level of its engagement in the upcoming parliamentary elections, postponed for four months, would depend on reforms.

KABUL (PAN): Afghanistan's Independent Election Commission (IEC) is likely to postpone parliamentary elections scheduled to be held in the month of May this year, an official confided to Pajhwok Afghan News on Sunday.

KABUL (PAN): In an expected move that was immediately welcomed by the United Nations and the United States, Afghanistan's Independent Election Commission (IEC) Sunday postponed parliamentary elections, scheduled to be held in May this year.

KABUL (PAN): The Wolesi Jirga, which has already rejected several ministers-designate, started voting on President Hamid Karzai's second slate of cabinet nominees Saturday morning.
