KABUL (PAN): Four ministers-designate for the portfolios of justice, transportation, counter-narcotics and rural development on Monday appeared before the Wolesi Jirga for a vote of confidence.

KABUL (PAN): President Hamid Karzai introduced Eng. Abdul Qadoos Hamidi as his nominee for the portfolio of communications and information technology to the Wolesi Jirga for a vote of confidence on Sunday.

KABUL (PAN): President Hamid Karzai's submission of a second list of 16 cabinet nominees to the Wolesi Jirga, Lower House of Parliament, for approval is a key step towards strengthening democracy in Afghanistan.

KABUL (APN): The Lower House of Parliament has set a deadline of two days for the UN-backed Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) as well as the Independent Election Commission (IEC) to decide on complaints of provincial council candidates.

KABUL (PAN): Following are the biographies of seven ministers-designate introduced to the Wolesi Jirga for approval by Vice-President Karim Khalili on Saturday:

KABUL (PAN): Minister-designate of commerce Mohammad Hadi Hakimi, citing personal problems, has reportedly conveyed to President Hamid Karzai his inability to join the new cabinet.
