Women’s active participation in polls urged

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Militants have attacked the campaign offices of three presidential runners in western Herat province, officials said on Thursday.
A rocket was fired on Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai’s campaign office in Qudusabad area of Islam Qala, but the attack caused no casualties.
Col. Abdul Rauf Ahmadi, the police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News militants stormed the campaign office of Abdul Rab Rassoul Sayyaf in Shindand district. Two suspects had been detained in connection with the incident.

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Presidential hopeful Gul Agha Sherzai on Tuesday accused the government of supporting another presidential runner Zalmai Rassoul in the April 5 elections.
Addressing a gathering attended by the thousands in the western city of Herat, the former governor asked the government to ensure the elections were free and fair.
“As we observe the situation, we realise that the elections will not be transparent. But I ask the government to make it sure the vote is credible, otherwise Afghanistan will face many problems.”      

KABUL (Pajhwok): Two members of leading presidential contender Dr. Abdullah Abdullah’s campaign office were killed in western Herat province on Saturday evening.
Syed Fazel Sancharaki, one of Abdullah's campaigners, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the two men were shot to death by unidentified individuals as they came out of their campaign office in the city.
Two staffers of the campaign office were shot dead by two motorcyclists, he said, adding the attackers’ identity was yet to be established.
