Women’s active participation in polls urged

 
HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Hundreds of people on Tuesday protested in this western city of Herat against the mutilation of nearly a dozen voters by insurgents in Kasht-i-Sangi Robat district on the election day.
The 11 men, mostly elders, were seized by insurgents after they had voted in the election and got their index fingers dipped in indelible ink mutilated.
Hundreds of people on Tuesday gathered in front of the Governor’s House in protest against the mutilation, chanting slogans against militants.

 
HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The Obe district administrative chief has been suspended due to his alleged involvement in fraud in the runoff vote, an official said on Monday. 
The Herat governor’s spokesman, Ihsanullah Hayat, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Abdul Qayyum Zawri had beaten a worker at a polling site on the Election Day.

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Armed militants chopped off fingers of nearly a dozen voters in western Herat province on Saturday, a senior official said.
Deputy Interior Minister Gen. Ayub Salangi wrote on his Twitter page the insurgents cut off inked fingers of 11 people. However, he gave no further details.
But a provincial security official confided to Pajhwok Afghan News the incident occurred in Kasht-i-Kohna district, where the 11 people were kidnapped after they cast their votes.

HERAT CITY, TARINKOT, JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Thousands of people have held separate gatherings in western Herat, eastern Nangarhar and central Uruzgan provinces in support of presidential runner Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, his campaign office said in a statement.
Addressing a large number of people, Ahmadzai, said he would work out a strategy to bolster the nascent economy of the country by reducing trade deficit.
Businessmen, he promised would be offered more facilities and the cultural heritage of Herat City would be protected if he won the ballot.
