HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Armed militants chopped off fingers of nearly a dozen voters in western Herat province on Saturday, a senior official said.
Deputy Interior Minister Gen. Ayub Salangi wrote on his Twitter page the insurgents cut off inked fingers of 11 people. However, he gave no further details.
But a provincial security official confided to Pajhwok Afghan News the incident occurred in Kasht-i-Kohna district, where the 11 people were kidnapped after they cast their votes.
Meanwhile, Governor Fazlullah Wahidi confirmed the kidnapping of 16 people. But he said nothing about the finger-cutting incident.
