Women’s active participation in polls urged

Known for its historical buildings and minarets, Herat is one of the largest provinces of Afghanistan. It is located in the west of the country.
Situated at 63 degree latitude and 43 degree longitude, Herat shares its borders with Badghis and Turkmenistan in the north, Farah in south while Ghor in east Iran in and in west.
As per 2009 estimate, its population touched the figure of 1,676,000 while its land area is 5,586,853 square kilometer.

Herat Provincial Council (PC) has 19 members. Four members are from previous terms while the rests are new faces. After internal election, following members emerged as members of administrative board:
Head: Kamran Ali Rezaee.
Deputy: Haji Toryalai Tahiri.
Secretary: Sakina Hussaini.

Governor of Herat, Sayyed Fazlullah Wahidi is the son of Sayyed Mohammad Akbar. He is born in 1951 in Surkhrod District of eastern Nangarhar Province.
He completed his primary and secondary education in Nangarhar High School. He earned his bachelor from Kabul University, Education Faculty in 1979.
