GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): The spy service on Tuesday said its operatives had detained 18 individuals involved in terrorist activities, kidnappings and murders in southern Ghazni province.

The men were detained during an operation conducted by intelligence officials, the National Directorate of Security or NDS said in a statement.

The statement did not reveal where the operation was conducted, but said the detainees included 11 terrorists.

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A female provincial council member received multiple injuries on Friday when suspected militants attacked her in front of her home in southern Ghazni province, the governor’s spokesman said.
Shafiq Nang told Pajhwok Afghan News bike riders opened indiscriminate fire at Zakya Rahimi in Qala Shada, a hamlet on the outskirts of Ghazni City, the provincial capital, shortly after 11am.
The gunmen were armed with pistols, he said, adding security officials had started investigation to identify the attackers.

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): As a result of disputed elections, a new administrative board of the Ghazni provincial council was elected on Sunday.

Khaliqdad was elected as the the council’s chief, Abdul Jame Jame as his deputy and Hamidullah Sarwari as secretary, said Deputy Governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi.

Ahmadi urged the new council head to wage a determined struggle against administrative corruption and play a positive role in promoting good governance.

He said Khaliqdad bagged 11 of the 19 votes cast to emerge as winner.

 
GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a member of peace council and candidate for the provincial council in southern Ghazni province on Monday, the governor’s spokesman said.
Shafiq Nang told Pajhwok Afghan News that Dr. Ghani Bahadari was gunned donw at around 10:00 am near the building of the provincial hospital in Ghazni City.
The assailant was riding a motorbike and fled the scene after committing the murder, he said, adding that police had started an investigation into the incident.
