Chaman Shah Etemadi

Chaman Shah Etemadi Son of Sultan was born in 1972 in Malistan district of southern Ghazni province. He completed secondary education in Islamic studies and holds a bachelor’s degree in education. Etemadi undertook Islamic studies at seminaries in Iran from 1998-1999. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Educational Science from Jamia Al-Mustafa University in Iran in 2010. He is known as a religious scholar among the Ghazni people and participates in religious ceremonies; he speaks Dari and Arabic.  Between 1999-2005 Etemadi was a religious teacher at the Rasolullah Seminary in Malistan district, Ghazni province. He was also a teacher of social subjects at the Muradena High School for Girls in Malistan.

Alhaj Khuda Dad Orfani

Alhaj Khuda Dad Orfani son of Safdar Ali was born in 1953 in the Sange-e-Masha area, the capital of Jaghori District in Ghazni Province. Orfani graduated from the Ayatullah Mohaqeq Seminary in 1974. He was also awarded a diploma – equivalent to a fourteenth class graduate certificate – from Istiqlal High School in Kabul in 2002. Orfani was a jihadi commander with Hezb-e-Wahdat Islami party. He served as the District Governor of Jaghori from 2006-2010. In 2003, Orfani participated in the Constitutional Loya Jirga.

Huma Sultani

Huma Sultani was born in 1974 in Khair Khana area of Kabul city; she speaks Dari, Pashto, Urdu and English. Sultani graduated from Ayesha-e-Durani Girls’ High School in Kabul in 1989. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Kabul University. She has spent part of her career working for women’s rights, and has been working on different civil and cultural issues. Sultani began her career as a teacher at the Shuhada Girls’ High School in Jaghori district, Ghazni province. between 2005-2009, she was the head of the Women’s Rights and Development Support Department of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC), and also served as the AIHRC Director for the Central Region.

Muhammad Arif Shah Jahan

Dr. Mohammad Arif Shah Jahan, son of Ghulam Rassoul, was born in 1954 in Jaghtu district, Ghazni province. His  speaks Dari, Pashto and English. Jahan finished secondary education in 1972 at the Habibia High School Kabul. In 1973 he enrolled at the Medical University of Nangarhar, and received bachelor’s degree in medical sciences in 1980. After graduating, Jahan served as a surgical doctor in Ghazni Provincial Hospital for six months. He then joined Mujahideen. He was a member of the jihad people’s council in Sebghatullah Mujaddadi’s government. In Burhanduddin Rabbani’s government, he was the head of the General Audit Department in the Ministry of Defense. He has served as a representative of Hezb-e-Harakat Islami Afghanistan party from 1991 until the fall of Rabbani’s government during the civil war.  He then immigrated to the United States in 1997. He returned to Afghanistan in 2007 and was a national security advisor for Ghazni province until 2008. He then served as the head of the Ghazni Provincial Department of Security from 2008 to 2010.

Ali Akbar Qasimi, son of Haji Muhammad Hasan, was born in 1954 in Nahor district, Ghazni province.  Qasimi graduated from the Kochi Lailiya School, Ghazni province, in 1963. He then joined the Pul-i Charkhi Military School in Kabul for two years. Qasimi was a member of the Islamic Solidarity Council (Shorai Etefaq Islami), but then became member of Hezb-e-Wahdat Islami  party in 1979. Between 2002-2004, he was Commander of the Afghan National Army’s fourteenth division, garrisoned in Ghazni province. He is widely known as an influential commander for Hezb-e-Wahdat Islami and he came to parliament in 2005.

He completed his Islamic studies in Iranian seminaries from 1986-1993. In 2002, Alizada was a member of the Secretariat of the Election Commission for the Constitutional Loya Jirga, where he worked as a public hearing officer for one year. Following this, he focused on political party activities as the Vice-President of Hezb-e-Wahdat Islami Mardom party led by Mohaqiq.
