GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): As a result of disputed elections, a new administrative board of the Ghazni provincial council was elected on Sunday.

Khaliqdad was elected as the the council’s chief, Abdul Jame Jame as his deputy and Hamidullah Sarwari as secretary, said Deputy Governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi.

Ahmadi urged the new council head to wage a determined struggle against administrative corruption and play a positive role in promoting good governance.

He said Khaliqdad bagged 11 of the 19 votes cast to emerge as winner.

In the ceremony, head of Ghazni provincial council promised to work hard to ensure good governance. He thanked members for voting him and selecting him as head of the council.

Ghazni is among those provinces that elected its administrative board very late.

It is said that there were sharp differences among members in electing their head, however, official sources refused the notion.

Sayed Omar, a resident of Ghazni province, hoped the new members would their differences and work for prosperity of people.
