GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): The Taliban have blocked the Kabul-Kandahar highway in Asfandi and Shahbaz areas on the outskirts of Ghazni City, residents said on Monday.
Provincial council member, Hassan Rezaee told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants closed the highway in Asfandi area at 6am. Security forces have not yet reached the neighbourhood to reopen the road.
The rebels had warned inhabitants of Qarabagh district not to come out of their homes, the public representative said.

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Five members of an uprising group and four Taliban militants were killed during a clash in the Andar district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Tuesday.
The governor’s spokesman, Mohammad Shafiq Nang, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban militants stormed the uprising group’s posts in Gandyr village last night.
Five members of the rebellion including their commander were killed and another three were wounded in the firefight that followed the attack.

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Ten kidnapped people have been released in the Jaghatu district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Saturday.
Unidentified gunmen abducted a dozen individuals on last week but two of them managed to escaped from their captors’ custody.
Shafiq Nang, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that local elders played an important role in the release of the 10 individuals.
Provincial council member Hassan Raza Yousafi said: “Ten abducted persons from Hazara community have reached their homes safe and sound.”

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Officials on Tuesday said that four engineers kidnapped by militants in southern Ghazni province have been killed.
The governor’s spokesman Shafiq Nang told Pajhwok Afghan News the engineers were kidnapped by militants from Jaghato district to Khogyani district last Thursday.
The dead bodies of the kidnapped engineers have been recovered in Gusfandi area on the outskirts of Ghazni city this morning, he said. Nang did not provide more details about the victims.
