GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a member of peace council and candidate for the provincial council in southern Ghazni province on Monday, the governor’s spokesman said.
Shafiq Nang told Pajhwok Afghan News that Dr. Ghani Bahadari was gunned donw at around 10:00 am near the building of the provincial hospital in Ghazni City.
The assailant was riding a motorbike and fled the scene after committing the murder, he said, adding that police had started an investigation into the incident.
Dr. Noorullah, an employee at the Ghazni Civil Hospital, confirmed receiving the body of Bahadari, who received bullet injuries in his head and chest. He had served as a member of provincial council and was the resident of Andar district.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
