KABUL (PAN): US Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Jarrett Blanc on Saturday discussed the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) and other bilateral issues with Deputy Foreign Minister Irshad Ahmadi.

KABUL (PAN): Independent Election Commission (IEC) officials on Wednesday said the voter registration campaign for the April 5 elections would be extended by one and a half month in order to establish more registration centres and appoint mobile teams.

KABUL (PAN): The selection committee on Wednesday said it had recommended 15 individuals to President Hamid Karzai for choosing five of them as commissioners on the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC).
Meshrano Jirga chairman Fazl Hadi Muslimyar, also a member of the selection commission, told reporters in Kabul 302 individuals had applied for the positions.

KABUL (PAN): Civil society activists on Tuesday said the government could land into a deep trouble if it allowed human rights violators to contest next year’s presidential elections.

KABUL (PAN): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Tuesday said it was planning to start issuing voter registration cards to people in villages across the country later this month.

KABUL (PAN): Former jihadi commander Ahmad Shah Massoud’s brother Ahmad Wali Massoud on Monday said only elections could not resolve all problems and challenges facing the nation.
Speaking on the occasion of marking the 12th death anniversary of Massoud, he said the upcoming elections should be aimed at steering the country out of crises not competing for power.
