LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Local Independent Election Commission (IEC) officials in southern Helmand province on Tuesday began recounting of votes cast at 16 polling centres after complaints of fraud, an official said.
IEC chief in Lashkargah, the provincial capital, Qudratullah Naqshbandi told Pajhwok Afghan News the recount had been ordered by the IEC main office in Kabul.

 
LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Journalists and civil society activists in southern Helmand province on Saturday said fraud attempts in the April, 5 elections would plunge the country into crisis and chaos.
University lecturers, journalists and members of civil society institutions expressed these views in a gathering in Lashkargah City, the provincial capital.
They asked the electoral commissions to remain neutral and demonstrate transparency in announcing results of presidential and provincial council elections.

 
LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): With the exception of Nawzad and Musa Kala districts, ballot boxes from all parts of southern Helmand province have been transferred to Lashkargah, the capital, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) said on Monday.

PUL-I-ALAM/ LASHKARGAH, QALAT, MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): Three militants were killed and five others, including two policemen wounded in bomb blasts and clashes in southern Zabul, Helmand, central Logar and eastern Laghman provinces on Saturday, officials said.
Three civilians were injured in a mine blast at a station in Mughal Khel High School in Mohammad Agha district, said Abdul Halim, the district administrative chief.
Soon after the blast, he said security forces cordoned off the area and voters had returned to cast their vote.
