ASHKARGAH (PAN): Taliban have once again besieged the strategic Musa Qala district of southern Helmand province in a bid to mount pressure on the government, a security official said on Sunday.

 
LASHKARKAG (PAN): A bomb attack, targetting a convoy of foreign forces, killed three civilians and wounded 15 others in southern Helmand province on Wednesday noon, officials said.

 
HERAT CITY (PAN): Six workers of the National Solidarity Programme (NSP) were killed two days after being kidnapped in the Gulran district of western Herat province, officials said on Tuesday.
The victims included four engineers and two drivers of NSP, a flagship initiative of the government to deliver tangible development services to rural communities across the country.

 
LASHKARGAH (PAN): Development schemes worth $3 million would be executed in the districts where poppy crops were not grown last year in southern Helmand province, the governor promised on Wednesday.
Gen. Mohammad Naeem told a gathering in Lashkargah, the provincial capital, the projects would be implemented in Nad Ali, Marja, Nawa, Garmser and Greshk towns, keeping in view residents’ needs.

 
LASHKARGAH (PAN): Residents of southern Helmand province are increasingly taking part in the voter registration campaign for the April 5 presidential and provincial council elections, an official said on Wednesday.

 
LASHKARGAH (PAN): Carpentry and marble factory officials on Tuesday alleged that marbles were being smuggled from southern Helmand province and mines there destroyed by Pakistanis.
The Pakistanis had long been smuggling marble and damaging the mines through explosions and airstrikes in Deshu district, Rokham Marble Factory head Mohammad Lal Kargar told Pajhwok Afghan News.
