The southern province of Helmand alongside its capital Lashkargah city is comprised of 14 administrative units as follow:  
1 – Lashkargah City:
Lashkargah is the capital city and populated part of Helmand province. There are civil and military airports, a number of factories, wide agriculture lands and markets in the city, where people are busy in their daily business.
 
2 – Nad Ali District:
Nad Ali is located 17 kilometers west of Lashkargah city, which is a populate town and a water channel is irrigating its agricultural land. Most of its residents have come from other parts of the county.  The total area of the district is 4,692 square kilometers, this district is comprised of 164 villages and its population is estimated at 90,100.
 
3 – Marja District:
Marja is located in 35 kilometers from the provincial capital and the Baghra water canal is irrigating its agricultural land. The people, who live in Marja, had come from different parts of the country and its population is estimated at 26,600.
 
4 – Nava Barikzai District:
Nava Barikzai is located 24 kilometres south of Lashkargah city and along Helmand river. Being a populated town and comprised of 129 villages, the population of Nava Barikzai is estimated at 91,200.
 
5 – Garamsir District:
Garamsir is located 76 kilometers south of Lashkargah city and a water canal from the Helmand is irrigating its agricultural land. Comprising of 150 villages, this district has a total of 20,257 square kilometers area and its population is estimated at 86,900. Most residents of this district have come there from other parts of the province or country.
 
6 – Khanshin District:
Khanshin is located 160 kilometers south of Lashkargah city in a joint border with neighboring Pakistan, which most parts are sandy. Comprising of 96 villages, this district has a total of 7,414 square kilometers area and its population is estimated at 26,100.
 
7 – Disho District:
Disho is located 215 kilometers south of Lashkargah city, where agriculture land is irrigated through the Helmand River. This district is comprised of 75 villages, it has a total of  9,782 kilometers square area and the population is estimated at 20,200.  
 
8 – Washir District:
Washir is located 143 kilometers northwest of Lashkargah city, where agricultural land is irrigated through springs and water canals. This district has a total of 4,105 square kilometers area, and is comprised of 64 villages. Its population is estimated at 15,400.  
 
9 – Nawzad District:
Nawzad is located 128 kilometers north of Lashkargah city, where agriculture land is irrigated through springs and water canals. This district is comprised of 173 villages, and it has a total of 4,560 square kilometers area and its population is estimated at 50,300.
 
10 – Musa Qala District:
Musa Qala is located 110 kilometers from Lashkargah city, where agricultural land is irrigated through water canals and springs. The population of this district is estimated at 58,400. This district has a total of 1,362 square kilometers area and 107 villages.
 
11 – Baghran District:
Baghran is located 210 kilometers north of the provincial capital. Its agricultural land is irrigated through water canals and springs. This district’s population is estimated at 80,600 and has a total of 3,587 square kilometers area and 295 villages.
 
12 – Kajaki District:
Kajaki is located 133 kilometers northeast of the provincial capital. Some of the agricultural land in this district is irrigated through the Hilmand River and the rest through water canals. This district has 360 water canals and its population is estimated at 70,500.  It has a total of 1,939 square kilometers area and 170 villages. Kajaki power dam is also located here, which presently provide electricity to a number of districts in Helmand, Lashkargah and Kandahar city.
 
13 – Sangin District:
Sangin is located 90 kilometers northeast of the provincial capital, where agricultural land is irrigate through the Helmand River. This district has 59,100 population and has a total of  294 square kilometers area and is comprised of 56 villages.
 
  14 – Greshk (Nahr-I-Saraj) District:
Nahr-i-Saraj is located 48 kilometers north of Lashkargah city, where agricultural land is irrigated through Helmand River. The population of this district is estimated at 116,100. Nahr-i-Saraj district measures 1,662 square kilometers area and is comprised of 207 villages.
