Fraud to plunge country into chaos, crisis

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Journalists and civil society activists in southern Helmand province on Saturday said fraud attempts in the April, 5 elections would plunge the country into crisis and chaos.
University lecturers, journalists and members of civil society institutions expressed these views in a gathering in Lashkargah City, the provincial capital.
They asked the electoral commissions to remain neutral and demonstrate transparency in announcing results of presidential and provincial council elections.
Sardar Muhammad Hamdard while speaking on the occasion said peaceful transfer of power through ballot was a key demand of Afghans.
He added residents of his province were supporting an impartial presidential hopeful who would succeed through people’s votes.
Hamdard said the April, 5 ballot was transparent than 2009 polls, urging the electoral commissions not to sacrifice major hopes of Afghans on the basis of language, tribal and political preferences.
Journalist and writer, Ahmad Shah Pasoon, said the presidential and provincial council polls were held after unspeakable offering blood by the people.
Without looking to 50+1 percentage, a leading presidential contender should be declared as winner because presently the country was passing through critical phases of history, he added.
