KABUL (Pajhwok): Legal experts say individuals who are convicted by the court of law could not contest the Wolesi Jirga elections, but some convicts did so.
The experts argue the law bars convicted individuals from contesting elections until an upper court rules in his/her favor and restores their dignity.

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Wolesi Jirga candidates in northern Baghlan province on Saturday warned they would emerge on roads if votes cast without biometric verification were not invalidated.
The hopefuls issued the warning while addressing a joint presser in Pul-i-Khumri city, the provincial capital. Gen. Habib Andrabi, a Wolesi Jirga candidate from Baghlan, said the election process did not go well in the province.

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Independent Election Commission (IEC) officials in central Logar province on Tuesday said ballot boxes were stuffed for some specific candidates on the Election Day in the province.
IEC head for Logar province, Abdul Rahman Mohabbat, told Pajhwok Afghan News that some Wolesi Jirga election candidates continued to interfere in their affairs and trying to get their fraudulent votes counted as genuine.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Votes that missed biometric verification, voter lists or polled without being overseen by observers would be declared invalid, election bodies said on Tuesday.

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) office in western Herat province on Tuesday announced quarantining votes from 19 polling stations of six districts over alleged rigging and fraud.
The complaints body says votes could be invalidated if fraud and rigging proved.  IECC head Amir Mohammad Muzafar told Pajhwok Afghan News suspicious votes could be invalidated if evidence of corruption and fraud was provided.

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC)’s regional office in western Herat province on Sunday accused a Wolesi Jirga candidate of offering the office 1$ million in bribe to declare him winner in the election, but the candidate rejected the allegation.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Footages and complaints show ballot boxes were allegedly stuffed at polling stations in Mosahi district of central Kabul province on the election day (Oct 20).

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Sunday said 80 people including security personnel have been arrested in connection with electoral crimes and the suspects could get one month to five years in jail sentences and from 100 afghanis cash fine to 100,000 afs.
Experts believe if the law is enforced on electoral offenders, it would help conduct better elections in future otherwise fraud and misconduct would continue.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Some Wolesi Jirga candidates claim the Oct 20 Wolesi Jirga elections were rigged in central Maidan Wardak and Kapisa provinces, demanding cancellation of suspicious ballots.
Seven Wolesi Jirga candidates from Kapisa province told reporters in Kabul that the elections in Kapisa were full of rigging and fraud.
