LASHKARGAH (PAN): The Georgian defence minister arrived in Afghanistan on Friday, a day after seven soldiers from the former Soviet republic were killed in a suicide attack on their base in the restive southern province of Helmand.
The assault occurred late on Thursday evening in the Karez Engineer Shela area of Nawzad district, where the suicide bomber blew himself up near the entrance to Georgian soldiers’ base, the district chief said.

 
LASHKRGAH (PAN): Six civilians have been killed in two separate explosions in the Sangin district of southern Helmand province, authorities said on Wednesday.
The individuals, including three women and as many men, were killed in Malazo village in Sarwan Kala area, a Taliban stronghold.
Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the resident had left their houses due to harassment at the hands of the Taliban.

LASHKARGAH (PAN): Interior Minister Mujtaba Patang on Tuesday alleged insurgent attacks on Afghan security forces in the Sangin district of southern Helmand province were planned in Pakistan.
Patang, who arrived in Sangin, met with Afghan forces commanders and discussed with them the security situation.
He praised security forces for their timely and effective response to insurgent attacks still continuing.

 
LASHKARGAH (PAN): Twenty-four insurgents were killed in clashes with Afghan security forces in the troubled Sangin district of southern Helmand province, taking the death toll for rebels in a week to 100, an official said on Monday.
The latest clashes broke out in the Heratian area late on Sunday, the governor’s spokesman, Omar Zwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He said militants’ bodies lay at the scene after the clash that left another 16 rebels and one policeman injured.

 
LASHKARGAH (PAN): A police helpline (119) was activated to prevent crime in the southern province of Helmand, an official said on Sunday.
Disruptive activities would fall with activation of the helpline, the deputy police chief, Col. Ghulam Rabbani Bahawi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
