LASHKARGAH (PAN): Hundreds of people on Friday held a gathering in Grishk district of southern Helmand province to condemn a rocket attack from Pakistan into the Maroof district of neighbouring Kandahar province.
Women also took part in the gathering that asked the Afghan government to respond effectively to such attacks from Pakistan into Afghanistan.

Helmandis vow to stand against Pakistani attacks

LASHKARGAH (PAN): Six Afghan Local Police (ALP) members were found dead under mysterious circumstances at their post in the Greskh district of southern Helmand province, an official said on Saturday.
A provincial official told Pajhwok Afghan News on condition of anonymity the policemen had been shot dead on Friday night in the Zamanbli area of the district.

Lashkergah (PAN): In the wake of capacity building of security forces and unflinching support by the public, security in the volatile Helmand has been improved to great extent.
Helmand Governor Spokesperson Omer Zwak expressed optimism that security has been bolstered as comparative to the past. Comparing the current security situation with past, he said that earlier only the capital had beefed-up security, adding but against the back drop of establishment of local councils in districts and villages, security has been tightened elsewhere in the province.

LASHKARGAH (PAN): Growing insecurity, administrative corruption, joblessness, and low literacy rate amid sinking quality of education are among some serious problems that continue to boil in the southern Helmand Province, residents say.

They said that there is complete absence of water canals while authorities are unwilling to implement the development projects, which they said, would go a long way to address the problems of the war-weary people in the long-run.

LASHKARGAH (PAN): Nearly 80 Afghan Local Police (APL) recruits have completed a month-long training in southern Helmand province, an official said on Friday.
Provincial police chief, Col. Nabi Ilham, told Pajhwok Afghan News the first-ever batch of 79 ALP recruits had been trained in Helmand.
The ALP members were taught different fighting techniques, law-enforcement skills and good conduct with residents, said Col. Ilham, who added the training process would continue.

LASHKARGAH (PAN): It is the prime responsibility of the Afghan government and international community to tackle widespread administrative corruption, improve education and health sectors, stabilize security parameters, and ensure market access for agriculture products.
