ANA officer sentenced to 16 years in jail

LASHKARGAH (PAN): The Haroon Popal Club has won a football tournament in southern Helmand province, an official said on Saturday.
Featuring 18 teams, the event got under way at the Karzai Stadium in Lashkargah 70 days, the provincial Olympic Committee head said.
Idris Alizai told Pajhwok Afghan News the Haroon Popal Club trounced the Qanun Club 2-0 in Friday's final to emerge champions.

LASHKARGAH (PAN): Four girls were killed on Thursday when one of them stepped on a landmine on the outskirts of Lashkargah, the capital of southern Helmand province, where a policewoman succumbed to her bullet injuries in hospital.
The girls, aged between eight and 12 years, were on their way home fetching water in jerry canes from a natural stream when the blast took place in the Lashkari Bazaar area, said the governor’s spokesman, Omar Zwak said.

LASHKARGA (PAN): Hundreds of kilograms of opium were seized by police in the southern province of Helmand on Tuesday, an official said.
Traffickers wanted to smuggle 360 kg of opium through the Tilghala area of Washer district, but police intercepted their vehicle on the basis of an intelligence report, 1st. Lt. Nisar Ahmad told Pajhwok Afghan News.
