KABUL (Pajhwok): Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) say procedures of the election commissions totally restrict government officers’ presence in election campaigns.

 

KABUL (Pajhwok): The assembly of former members of parliament on Monday expressed deep concerns over current security situation in the country and stressed the need for the establishment of peace instead of going for elections.

 

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Awareness program regarding biometric voting for illiterate womenhas been launched in central Bamyan province for the September 28 presidential election, an official said on Thursday.
Aqila Yousufi, Independent Election Commission (IEC) gender section head for Bamyan, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the aim of the biometric awareness program was to encourage women to widely partake in the presidential election.

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Monday said four international observers were yet to be granted credentials and issued visas for next month’s presidential election.
Abdul Aziz Ibrahimi, IEC deputy spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 24 domestic observers had received their credentials for monitoring the election process.

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): A number of women in central Uruzgan province say they would widely participate in the upcoming presidential election if they are provided required facilities and easy access to polling stations.
The Uruzgan women expressed these views during a meeting organized by the Independent Election Commission (IEC) here.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Independent Election Commission (IEC) officials say half of the polling stations in northern Balkh province would stay shut on Election Day due to security problems.
Mohammad Ayub Bayani, IEC head for Balkh, told Pajhwok Afghan News that all preparations had been made for holding the September 28 presidential election in the province.
He said the commission had launched a public awareness campaign since last two weeks to encourage people to participate in the election.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Deserting presidential candidate Mohammad Atmar’s electoral team, Mohammad Mohaqiq joined the Stability and Convergence team led by Abdullah Abdullah on Thursday, a well-placed source said.

 

KABUL (Pajhwok): People and election oversight institutes say taking photos of female voters on the election day is not professional, fearing the decision would affect women’s participation in next month’s poll.

 

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Tuesday said photo, fingerprints, identity card photo were prerequisite for transparency in election and prevention of fraud.
Hawa Alam Nuristani, IEC chief, told a press conference here that the commission was committed to holding the presidential election on September 28.

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Presidential ballot will not take place in six districts of southern Helmand province due to insecurity, an official said on Wednesday.
Shabbir Ahmad Hamid, provincial Independent Election Commission head, in an exclusive interview told Pajhwok Afghan News that election would not take place in Nawzad, Washir, Sangeen, Desho, Musa Qala and Khanshin districts.
“Sticker attachment process was also remained undone due to insecurity.” He said.
