KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 230,000 people, including 12,000 men and 70,000 women have so far registered as voters since the registration process’ launch, an official said on Thursday.

 

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The voter registration process could not be conducted in four districts of northern Kunduz province owing to insecurity, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) regional office said on Wednesday.

 

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) regional office in eastern Nangarhar province said on Wednesday it has so far registered around 16,000 people as voters in the province.
Zabihullah Wagari, IEC head for Nangarhar, told a gathering about coordination between elections-related institutions in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, that around 13,000 people have so far registered as voters and another 3,000 changed their names and locations in the province.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah after facing difficulty in finding his name on the voter lists at a voter registration center in Kabul on Tuesday asked the Independent Election Commission (IEC) to write the names of previous voters on walls.

 

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) said on Monday it was purchasing 25,000 biometric devices to be used in the September 28 presidential election.
Zabihullah Sadat, IEC acting spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that biometric system would be used in the presidential election in order to ensure transparency.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Some unsuccessful Wolesi Jirga candidates on Sunday warned of creating ‘a parallel parliament’ in case the lawmakers failed to resolve the ongoing conflict over speaker’s slot.
On May 16, the election for the speaker slot became controversial after one vote polled for Mir Rahman Rahmani was declared invalid.

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): The voter registration process for the presidential election in Badakhshan province has been lackadaisical, officials said on Friday.
The sluggish process was linked to the remote location of voter registration centres from residential areas and hard-to-travel roads.
Election officials say more than 70,000 individuals have been registered across the country as voters since the launch of the drive 12 days ago.

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Jogi minority for the first time received their national identity cards before the October 2018 Wolesi Jirga elections and cast their votes, but they now claim the organs concerned do not accept their ID cards.

 

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): A number of women in northern Jawzjan province could not participate in the voter registration process for the presidential elections because they don’t have identity cards or Tazkira, local officials said Wednesday.

 

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Tuesday announced launching oversight process of the ongoing voter registration and said so far no political party had started observing the task.
Earlier, the IEC has announced a 20-day voter registration process for the Sept 28 presidential election.
