KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Religious scholars and tribal elders in southeastern Khost province on Tuesday said “illegal distribution” of weapons to residents in northern provinces would lead the country to another crisis.
Speaking at a gathering to voice support for the ongoing peace process, they claimed some circles wanted to derail the peace parlays for their own interests.
Besides religious scholars and tribal elders, the gathering was attended by civil society activists, provincial council members and others in Khost City, the provincial capital.

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday said the second round of peace talks due in the next two weeks would focus on Taliban’s demands and problems.
Ghani, who arrived in southeastern Khost province days after a suicide car bombing killed 33 people, was talking to local officials here.
Mubariz Zadran, the Khost governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the president was accompanied by a high-level delegation on his visit to the province.

GARDEZ (Pajhwok):  The Khost-Gardez Highway in southeastern Paktia province will be opened for traffic by the end of this year, officials said on Thursday.
The construction of the 105 kilometers long highway has been delayed for last seven years due to certain reasons.
Eng. Abdullah Durrani, director public health, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 88 km long road had been completed and construction work on the remaining 17 km had been kicked-off.
