KABUL (PAN): Members of the Wolesi Jirga, during a debate on a draft poll law, on Wednesday differed on conditions for parliamentary and provincial council candidates.
Article 10 of the proposed law, having 17 chapters and 66 articles, states a candidate for the presidency should have a bachelor’s degree. Article 11, Wolesi Jirga candidates must be 12th graders and former members of the parliament.

KABUL (PAN): Wolesi Jirga member Samiullah Samim on Tuesday suggested a special tribunal be established to investigate Finance Minister Omar Zakhilwal’s allegations against him and five other parliamentarians.
A day earlier, Zakhilwal revealed the names of the lawmakers he had earlier accused of smuggling and making illegal demands on the government.

PUL-I-ALAM/SHARAN (PAN): Hundreds of religious scholars from central Logar province on Tuesday announced their stout support for the next presidential elections.
Afghans should actively participate in the 2014 vote to decide their future, a member of the Logar Ulema council, Maulvi Mohammad Rafiq, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

KABUL (PAN): Finance Minister Omar Zakhilwal on Monday revealed the names of the lawmakers he had earlier accused of smuggling and making illegal demands on the government.

KABUL (PAN): Some Wolesi Jirga members on Sunday insisted on summoning the finance minister, warning that the parliament would lose its credibility if the deadlock on the issue persisted.
Lawmakers decided to summon the ministers of finance and interior who had accused them of having hand in drug trafficking and other illegal activities.

KABUL (PAN): A majority of Wolesi Jirga members on Saturday voted overwhelmingly for barring colleagues from withdrawing their requests to summon a minister, ending tension within the lower house.
The vote came after some legislators withdrew the forms they had submitted for summoning Finance Minister Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal and Interior Minister Mujtaba Patang.

KABUL (PAN): The Right and Justice Party on Thursday strongly denied receiving money from any foreign organisation on a monthly basis as reported by two local media outlets.

He added the party had been accused of receiving $60,000 per month from the Dubai-based Anham Company -- a logistic supply firm.
