KABUL (Pajhwok): A number Senate members on Sunday called the election security report as unrealistic, saying that the situation at 50 percent of polling stations looked unfavourable in terms of transparency.
After conducting an overall assessment throughout the country, security organs announced on Saturday only 414 out of 6, 845 polling sites across the country lacked the required level of protection.

KABUL (PAN): In a surprise move, Gulbadin Hekmatyar, the leader of Hizb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA), the second largest militant group after the Taliban, has asked his supporters to participate in this year’s presidential and provincial council elections.
Dr. Ghairat Baheer, the HIA political wing in-charge, told Pajhwok Afghan News Hekmatyar had made the decision some time ago.

KABUL (PAN): A former senior election commission official on Saturday confirmed the US administration’s failed attempt to defeat President Hamid Karzai in his reelection bid in 2009.
Former US defence secretary Robert Gates in his memoir has harshly criticised the move as a "clumsy and failed putsch" that did significant damage to the US-Afghan relationship.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Of the 6,845 polling stations across the country, security of 414 could not be ensured, Independent Election Commission (IEC) officials said on Saturday.
IEC Secretary Ziaul Haq Amarkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News the 414 polling stations in Badghis, Ghor, Farah, Helmand, Badakhshan, Sar-i-Pul, Parwan, Nuristan, Kunar and Laghman had been declared most sensitive.
