Faryab is known as the northern province of Afghanistan, sharing border with Turkmenistan.
Arab historians and Khurasani are of the opinion that province had different names in different times of period including Feiryab, Paryab and Baryab.
Faryab was part of Kurasan region during the 6th Islamic century and area had large territory including the nearby areas of Jawzjan, which contributed to its strategic and economic importance in the 4th century.

1 – Maimana City:
Maimana is known as the capital city of the province, Faryab comprised 14 administrative units including Pashtonkot, Almar, Qaisar, Khwaja Sabz Posh, ShireenTagab, Doulat Abad, Bilcharagh, Girziwan, Kohistanat, Ghormach, Andkhoi, Qurghan and Khancharak.  
Considered as one of the historic cities of the country, Maimana city was called Yahodia, and Nisaya in the past.

 Son of Haji Borai, Mohammadullah Batash is born in 1961 in Imam Sahib District of Kunduz province.
He completed his primary education in Basos School and graduated from Hazrat Imam Sahib High School in 1981.
He completed his BA in social sciences and MA in International Relation in Russia in 2006. He received his PhD from Russia in 2011. 
He worked as an advisor for the Afghan Cabinet Council from 2004 to 2006 and advisor for UNDP development programs till 2008.
Simultaneously, he was board member for Presidential Palace.  

MAIMANA (PAN): More than 1500 families have fled their homes fearing possible clashes between security forces and the Taliban insurgents in the Ghormach district of northwestern Faryab province.
The exodus came three days after security officials warned residents of possible attack from the Taliban, saying the armed rebels had gathered in nearby areas to storm the district centre.
