MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Residents and local officials have expressed concern over differences between lawmakers and provincial council members, saying the rifts were fuelling insecurity in Qaisar district.
Rows between the supporters of lawmaker Fathullah Qaisari, provincial council member Faqir Mohammad Qaisari and Mohammad Nader Syed recently escalated, they said.

Public representatives linked to Qaisar unrest

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): The northern Faryab province is rich in natural resources, including gas, salt and oil but the natural reserves cannot be utilized in a proper way.
Research and geological studies suggest there are abundant mineral reserves elsewhere in the province where the environment is favorable for their extraction.
Of 212kinds of metals and stones reserves, as many as 70 percent of them can be extracted but the government did not bother to explore the rich underground reserves which would bring prosperity and development to the country.

MAIMANA/SHIBRGHAN (Pajhwok): Five women have been killed in a bomb blast in northwestern Faryab province while two men lost their lives in a traffic accident in northwestern Jawzjan province, officials said Saturday.
Maj. Sayyed Gharib, police chief for Garziwan district, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the bomb planted near the upraising members’ check post, which exploded this morning and caused casualties among women.
The upraising members had joined militants and they planted a bomb in their post to blow up policemen instead, he added.

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Public order police officers in northwestern Faryab province on Wednesday warned to quit their jobs if their salaries were further delayed.
Col. Gul Mohammad, unit commander of public order police, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the unit was deployed four years ago to the province for protection of a road construction company. The unit, he said was maintaining security of the Qaisar-Faryab road.
He said that they did not get paid for the last five months and warned to quit their jobs if their problem was not addressed in next few days.

Faryab public order police yet to get 5 months stipend

MAIMANA/SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Five militants and two policemen have been killed and seven others wounded in Qaisar district of northwestern Faryab province while two civilians were killed in Jawzjan province, officials said Thursday.
Abdul Jamil Saddiqi, Qaisar district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants were killed during clashes in Chichakhto area during the past 24 hours. Two Afghan Local Police (ALP) members, he said were also died in the firefight.
