MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Some tribal elders in northern Faryab province on Tuesday complained they were beaten by gunmen of a local commander after they refused to vote for a candidate of his choice.
Commander Dadi directed his gunmen to punish those refusing to vote in favour of presidential contender Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, they alleged.
Sardar Bai, an influential figure from Balcharagh district, complained he sustained wounds on his body when gunmen loyal to Dadi attacked him.  

 
MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Around 7,000 Kuchi tribesmen could not exercise their right to enfranchise in April 5 presidential and provincial council elections in northern Faryab province due to insecurity.  
Thousands of Kuchi families live in Faryab, but security threats kept 7,000 eligible Kuchi voters away from casting their vote, said Ghulam Ghaus, a representative of the tribe in Daulat Abad district.

 
MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Some warlords stuffed ballot boxes and election officials committed fraud during Saturday’s elections in two districts of northwestern Faryab province, an official alleged on Wednesday.
“We have received reports that say some warlords interfered and stuffed ballot boxes for their candidate,” he said, but did not name the contender and the warlords.
Bigzad said there had been instances of electoral fraud in two districts, including Sherin Tagab and the April 5 vote provoked more than 90 complaints in the province so far.
