MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): A vocational training and literacy programme, a UN-funded project, was launched for inmates at the central jail in northern Balkh province on Tuesday, an official said.
Around 140 detainees, including 60 women, would learn dressmaking and embroidery and attend literacy courses as part of the programme, the central jail commander, Col. Abdullah Azizi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Afghanistan, or historically Aryana, has been the cradle of different civilizations and religions. It is a place where several civilizations were born and then spread to different parts of the world.
However, the belief that Afghanistan’s strategic position has converted it into a centre of civilizations is half truth as it has the same geographical location as it had in the past; however, it is now exporting narcotics and terrorism to rest of the outside world.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Some women journalists on Thursday said they were yet to be recognised in the field, despite their all-out efforts to serve their society.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): One man was killed and 13 others were wounded during a bomb blast in a hotel in northern Sar-i-Pul province on Thursday morning.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Death sentences were handed down on Saturday to two women who allegedly killed a child in northern Balkh province, an official said.
Nasima and Latifa were sentenced to death at an open train by the primary urban court in Mazar-i-Sharif on charges of killing Ali Sena, an eight years old child.
Judge Mohammad Sadiq Fayyaz said the women were arrested by security personnel in early April when they were trying to hide the child’s dead body.
